POSITION SUMMARY: The successful candidate will be an outstanding collaborative fundraiser with the passion to help On Lok carry out its mission of serving the elderly. He/she will also be an accomplished fundraiser with a high level of creative and technical competencies as well as the critical interpersonal skills and characteristics to ensure success. A confident presence with a "can do" attitude and formidable drive to motivate and inspire donors to give.

Under the direction of the Chief Development Officer (CDO) and supervision of the Director of Development, the Philanthropy Officer (Officer) is responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting and growing individual giving revenue. The Officer will be assigned to multiple markets in the Bay Area. The Officer will work with On Lok leadership and staff in the family of community-based, not-for-profit organizations. On Lok's mission is to enable seniors to maintain a quality of life that lets them live in their communities where they can lead independent, active lives for as long as possible.

The Officer is responsible for increasing revenue, retention and acquisition of individual giving donors through exceptional engagement and stewardship of donors. The Officer will maintain a discreet portfolio of top donors and identify additional qualified prospects. The Officer must be strategic and proficient in creating donor base analysis and donor reporting. The Officer will be expected to meet both a personal revenue goal for a discreet portfolio and a shared team revenue goal. Highly motivated by the vision and mission of On Lok.


DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

DISCOVERY Research and Analysis:

  • Identify new potential donors and family foundation and create a discreet portfolio with the donors with the greatest potential to give.
  • Set and develop a cultivation and solicitation strategies building portfolio to 75-100 donors to facilitate moves management of prospects.
  • Develop and utilize giving and donor reports and data to determine an effective overall plan for individual giving and to facilitate moves management of prospects.
  • Moves plans are developed, implemented and consistently aligned to On Lok's strategic plan.

CULTIVATION Moves Management and Engagement:

  • Face to face and/or meaningful interactions with individual giving prospects and donors to drive solicitation strategies.
  • Moves management plans and solicitations are discussed with CDO and routinely updated to include CDO and CEO engagement.
  • Identify donors and engage prospects who show an interest in giving - to specific projects by scheduling on site visits/conferences and creating strategic plan progress reports for donors.
  • Meets activity metric goals established for each fiscal year including a determined number of donor visits, attendance at community events and gift asks.
  • Collaborate with Events Specialist to determine engagement of event participants and volunteers.
  • Articulate the case for support, through oral and written means, so that donors engage and support the mission and vision of On Lok.

SOLICITATION Building Long-Term Relationships:

  • Ensure a donor's experience is rewarding and positive and determine future giving opportunities.
  • Create and execute overall donor recognition strategy.
  • Create and execute Planned Giving approach.
  • Oversight and editing of individual giving acknowledgments with personalization and emphasis on the impact of giving.
  • Steward next gift.


STRATEGIC PLAN AND PRIORITIES:

  • Incorporate On Lok funding priorities into donor portfolio and develop donors to fund these initiatives.
  • Provide timely, written reports regarding the outcome of cultivation and solicitation actions; and track activity in Salesforce.
  • Provides annual assessment of high impact board members, ambassadors and volunteers; alert to any/all successes and challenging areas.
  • Update Salesforce with contact information, giving affinity, interactions, event attendance, letters, notes, proposals and written requests.


VOLUNTEER ENGAGEMENT Development Committee and Event Committees:

  • Partner with volunteer specialist, board, committee members and other fundraising volunteers to identify new donors that leverage networks and relationships of volunteers.
  • Increase the number of On Lok volunteers, recognizing and recruiting talent.
  • Engage volunteers, effectively communicating and facilitating meaningful fundraising opportunities.

QUALIFICATIONS (knowledge, skills, abilities):

  • Bachelor's degree and 3 years related experience and/or training, with demonstrated or success in performing critical job functions equivalent combination of education and experience. Capital campaign gift cultivation and solicitation experience preferred.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from donors, volunteers or members of the business community.
  • Ability to write reports, gift agreements, correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, donors, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
  • Ability to create and generate donor analysis and reports.
  • Must have reliable automobile transportation and a valid California Driver's License and vehicle insurance.
  • Acceptance and application of the confidential nature of the position.
  • Professional, customer-service oriented attitude and demeanor.
  • Availability for weekend and evening work.
  • Ability to work well independently and as a collaborative team member.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Salesforce, Wealth Engine, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and successfully meet deadlines.
  • Ability to be effective and flexible in stressful situations (i.e. unexpected problems, tight deadlines).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail, high regard for accuracy and top quality work.
  • Effective and creative problem-solver and decision-maker with strong initiative and excellent follow-through.
  • Cross-cultural competencies to effectively work with the diverse populations of San Francisco.

Your final compensation offer will be determined based on factors such as skills, experience, education, and licenses/certifications. The pay range is expressed as an hourly rate regardless of FLSA status. Exempt positions are paid salaried and are not subject to overtime.
